Following a life-changing illness, I decided that art needed to be a part of every day. That daily habit lead to an obsession with linocut printing. I love the meditation of carving the block, the way the sketch is transformed and the way the rich thick ink contrasts with the delicate paper.
All my prints are hand pulled using a traditional Japanese bamboo baren and handmade Japanese kozo paper. The tiny differences created using this technique means every print is unique.
My favourite subjects are birds and animals. I’m prone to stopping people in the street to request photos of their dogs. I live in the beautiful Wairarapa and print on my kitchen table.
