I am new to the Wairarapa, having arrived here July 2017.
Previously I was based in Christchurch and was heavily involved
with the Sumner Art Society.
Prior to that I had an 8 year stint on the Sunshine Coast in
Queensland, Australia. It was there that I took up art again as an
enjoyable hobby and de-stressor from my job. Starting inacrylics, which I had not used before, I eventually was persuaded
by an art tutor to switch to oils.
Having been tutored by many top artists in Australia, I ended up
completing a studio painting course at the Sunshine Coast Tafe,
(Polytech) whilst there.
My style has developed over the years from a love of the
Impressionists, (van Gogh, Pissaro, Manet and Monet in
particular) to a more modern impressionistic style and just lately i have been trying some abstract pieces.
I have had a solo exhibitions at the Christchurch Arts Centre
Galleries, groups exhibitions at “Down by the Liffey Gallery” in
Lincoln, and many fundraising charity exhibitions around
Christchurch.
I love the colours and shapes of nature, especially in skies.
I’m looking forward to my retirement here in the Wairarapa and
enjoyable hobby and de-stressor from my job. Starting in acrylics, which I had not used before.
